The physiotherapist Akshay/AK is very passionate about what he does. Having completed a Bachelor’s of Physiotherapy from India in 2009, he decided to gain more knowledge and completed his Post graduation in Masters of Physiotherapy in Sports Rehabilitation in 2012. He also passed the PhD entrance exam in 2013-2014 but opted to move to Canada instead and challenge himself.
He worked in close collaboration with surgeons in India to provide his patients with the best possible pre-operative and post-operative care. He has headed the spine Physiotherapy unit and the Sports unit of one of Asia’s most prestigious orthopaedic hospitals. He is a Certified Mulligan Practitioner and has extensive knowledge of sports and musculoskeletal injuries. Akshay is an ADP Authorizer for the Ministry of Health’s Assistive Devices Program. His other credentials include being an active OCE examiner for the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario. He is also a former examiner for the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators.
In 2018, he got his Canadian Physiotherapy license. During this period, he worked in a variety of corporate clinics, and in community settings, working closely with the surgeons at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
His treatment approach focuses on manual therapy, corrective exercises, education, and rehabilitation. As a holistic, patient-centred therapist, he addresses the root cause of issues and not just symptoms in order to help you reach your goals.
Akshay strongly believes we owe our senior population, as they are the foundation of our community, and tries to support and empower them in any way he can. Giving back to the community is something Akshay is passionate about. As a result, he also organizes community events at Swift Care Wellness Centre in addition to his clinical practice.
Aside from being an avid foodie and party enthusiast, he also enjoys traveling with his wife, making new friends, learning new skills, and helping others.
